Aerohydraulic heat pipe

Aerohydraulic heat pipe

The stand is designed to study radiators and radiator-ventilator units of both engine cooling systems and heating and airing systems of automobiles.

The automotive radiator of the cooling system (as well as the heating system) is a heat exchanger. There the heat, that is evolved in the internal combustion engine and the coolant, is released into the atmosphere with the scattering. The heat-transfer process is carried out between two heat carries - a coolant and air, separated by a solid wall.

The direction of coolant flow in the radiator is mainly used cross. It means the velocity vectors of coolant and air are crossed at right angle in the radiator.

In automobile engine cooling systems, two types of heat-exchange surfaces (cores) of the radiator are commonly used: tubular-lamellar and tubular-ribbon.

High quality requirements are imposed to radiators in the manufacture. And that includes radiators must undergo periodic and type tests. It is done to determine their main functional characteristics: reduced heat removal, as well as aerodynamic and hydraulic resistance. The obtained values are examined for compliance with the requirements of technical specifications.

The control of heat exchangers for compliance of their functions with control characteristics is carried out at the «Aerohydraulic heat pipe» type stand. It is destined to determine the functions and characteristics of the tested heat exchangers.
